About me
I make art because it is the most sincere way I have and probably the only way I want to express myself. Dialogue with my works sometimes literally comes to life simply by observing them: in certain moments it almost seems to me that the subjects trapped in the sheets and canvases have a life of their own.
In the current creative period I'm creating anthropomorphic animals, especially elephants, whose I'd learned to understand their symbolic meaning linked in some way to the identity of the territory where I'm living in.
I also often give shape to my nightmares, my fears, but also to the positive emotions that often have insects as symbolic references.
When I draw I mainly use pastels for their capacity to create many nuances simply with fingers; Bic pens both for their extreme simplicity and effective expressiveness and I would even say their sincerity; ink, since with very few brushstrokes it is possible through fluid lines and flat backgrounds to give expressiveness to any two-dimensional creation.
For paintings made with traditional mediums I mainly use acrylic for its ability to dry quickly and for the versatile use that can be made of it.
For digital painting I work mainly with the open source software Krita.
I have no specific or "fixed" points of reference: there are many forms of visual art that attract me and some of these have accompanied me for many years, such as illustration.
The discovery of "outsider" artists in recent times has been decisive for my artistic growth for sure and reaching the level of expressiveness of the works of these "outside the box" artists, such as Giovanni Cammarata, is certainly one of the goals I have in mind to achieve.
For the rest, I believe that in Art there are no "arrival points", but always and only starting points, where the aim is not to achieve a particular purpose, but where the most important moment is precisely the creative one.
Faccio arte perché è il modo più sincero che ho e probabilmente l’unico modo in cui voglio esprimermi. Il dialogo con i miei lavori a volte prende letteralmente vita semplicemente osservandoli: in certi momenti mi sembra quasi che i soggetti intrappolati nei fogli e nelle tele abbiano una vita propria.
Nell’attuale periodo creativo realizzo animali antropomorfi, soprattutto elefanti, di cui ho imparato a capirne il significato simbolico, legati in qualche modo anche all’identità del territorio dove vivo.
Spesso dò anche forma ai miei incubi,alle mie paure, ma anche alle emozioni positive che hanno spesso come riferimenti simbolici gli insetti.
Nella realizzazione dei disegni uso prevalentemente i pastelli per la capacità che hanno di creare tantissime sfumature semplicemente attraverso le dita; le penne bic tanto per la loro estrema semplicità quanto efficace espressività e direi anche sincerità; l’inchiostro, poiché con pochissime pennellate è possibile attraverso linee fluide e campiture piatte donare espressività a qualsiasi creazione bidimensionale.
Per i dipinti realizzati con i medium tradizionali uso soprattutto l’acrilico per la sua capacità di asciugarsi in tempi brevi e per l’uso versatile che è possibile farne.
Per la pittura digitale lavoro soprattutto con il software open source Krita.
Non ho punti di riferimento specifici o “fissi”: esistono molte forme dell’arte visiva che mi attirano e alcune di queste mi accompagnano da tanti anni come ad esempio l’illustrazione.
Sicuramente la scoperta degli artisti “outsider” negli ultimi tempi è stata decisiva per la mia crescita artistica e arrivare al livello di espressività delle opere di questi artisti “fuori dagli schemi”, come ad esempio Giovanni Cammarata, è sicuramente uno degli obiettivi che ho in mente di raggiungere.
Per il resto credo che in Arte non esistano “punti di arrivo”, ma sempre e solo punti di partenza, dove il fine non è raggiungere un particolare proposito, bensì il momento più importante è proprio la fase creativa.
